Hi Friends,
As we enter the fourth week of Parkinson’s Awareness Month, we’re highlighting community support—how we at APDA support you and how our community supports us. From our newly diagnosed PRESS program to our Beyond Medication and Powerful Tools for Caregivers series, we aim to support everyone impacted by PD at all stages of the disease.
Our support programs are a vital component to helping navigate a Parkinson’s diagnosis, by providing education, resources, and strong connections that improve physical, mental, and emotional health.

An Introduction to Parkinson’s Disease
A 75-minute session for those who want to learn more. This program will give you an overview of Parkinson’s disease and provide information about community resources and support.

The PRESS Program (Parkinson’s Roadmap for Education and Support Services) is designed for those diagnosed with PD within the last 5 years.

Powerful Tools is a six week educational series designed to provide you, the caregiver, with tools needed to take care of yourself while caring for a loved one. Classes consist of interactive sessions; discussions and brainstorming to help you take the “tools” you choose and put them into action in your life.

APDA runs support groups and assists all the support groups in our 5-state region, including support groups specifically for Care Partners.
Including these Virtual Care Partner Groups:
APDA Parkinson’s Spouses – 3rd Tuesday of the month
Alaska Care Partner Group – 1st Wednesday of the month
APDA Virtual Care Partner Group – 2nd Monday of the month
