A message against hate from NW Parkinson’s

Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation

Dear Parkinson’s Community,
Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation stands with our Asian American community. For the past year, East and Southeast Asians have experienced high rates of horrifying race-based violence. We recognize that many South, Central, and West Asian communities have also experienced another layer of Islamophobic acts of hate. We also recognize that this violence is not new to the Asian diaspora.
Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation’s team would like to repeat and reaffirm our commitment to ending biases against individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the Parkinson’s community; addressing disparities in access to specialized Movement Disorders care, and ensuring that our programs and services serve everyone who is impacted by Parkinson’s.
An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us, and we stand together as a community against any discriminatory behaviors or violent acts. Racism and violence are not and will not be tolerated here.
We are committed to the equitable treatment of all people. To the Asian members of our community, the Northwest Parkinson’s team is with you, today, tomorrow, and always.
Melissa, Virgil, Sarah, Pam, Bette Jane & Miran
