Flathead Valley Parkinson’s Support Group

Hello everyone,

Since making the announcement a week and a half ago, we have heard from several of you recognizing the incredible opportunity we have to hear from a regionally respected movement disorder specialist. Dr. Pinky Agarwal will travel to Kalispell for the Flathead Valley Parkinson’s Support Group meeting on Wednesday, March 20, with a message focused on Thriving with Parkinson’s Disease. 

If you are one of the many who have been hoping for a chance to meet her face-to-face, learn from her broad experience treating Parkinson’s Disease, and ask your questions in person, don’t miss this support group meeting.

Dr. Agarwal will talk with us about what to expect and how you and your care partners can advocate for the best treatment options. The program is designed to help you set treatment goals and take an active role in your care plan.

You will learn about:

  • Parkinson’s disease basics – the who, what and why
  • Daily life with Parkinson’s – the “On”/”Off” cycle
  • How Parkinson’s medications work
  • Selecting and managing your treatment

Dr. Agarwal is an attending neurologist specializing in Parkinson’s and movement disorders with Booth Gardner Parkinson’s Care Center at Evergreen Neuroscience Institute in Kirkland, Washington. She received her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, India. She then completed a neurology residency at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute, followed by a fellowship in movement disorders at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. 

Some of our members from the Flathead Valley area have had the privilege of working with Dr. Agarwal for their treatment and ongoing consultation. With clinical and research interests in Parkinson’s disease, dystonia and restless leg syndrome, she is involved in six clinical trials in Parkinson’s and Huntington’s diseases. She also is affiliated with the American Medical Association, American Academy of Neurology, Movement Disorders Society, and Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Her patient-centered approach involves family members as she educates patients about treatment options leading to informed decisions. 

Dr. Agarwal is coming to us through the efforts of Sean Heller, senior specialty sales representative and field sales trainer with Amneal Pharmaceuticals, which will sponsor our March meeting.
